Hash tasty breakfast- fathers day recipe!
The first breakfast recipe is an amazing potato hash recipe that has my mouth watering just thinking about it… any dad would be extremely lucky to get this as a fathers day present!
Here is the list of ingredients that you need to make this amazing meal;
Ingredients;
-2 tbsp of groundnut oil
-50g/ 1¾oz butter
-3 herby sausages, skinned
-1 onion that is sliced up
-½ of a large potato including the skin
-2 free range eggs
That is it! So little ingredients yet it still is full of flavour and will make you fall in love after one bite! Now we have our ingredients collected, let’s get cooking!
Method;
Start off by measuring out your oil into a large pan and heat it over a medium heat. Slice your onions and skin your sausages while you are waiting on the oil heating. Once your oil has heat up add in your skinned sausage and your butter and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring continuously to ensure the meat all turns brown and cooks all through.
Once your meat has browned, add in your sliced onion to the pan and stir for a minute until it starts to go soft. On a plate at the side, grate the potato including the skin and squeeze over the sink in a piece of kitchen paper to remove any moisture. Once your potato is dried and grated, add it into the pan along side your onion and sausage.
When the pan ingredients are cooked, crack the eggs into the pan and cook until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still runny, without mixing your egg in so that it sets in the shape of a fried egg. Once everything is cooked, pop this in a bowl or a plate and serve! This is an amazing dish with a side of orange juice! Enjoy!
Flat pancake- fathers day recipes!
This next meal is more directed to the dads that have a bit of a sweet tooth, they will definitely enjoy these flat pancakes… even someone who isn’t a sweet tooth can’t resist falling in love with them!
Here is the list of ingredients that you need in order to make these amazing flat pancakes;
Ingredients;
-110g/ 4oz of plain flour that is sifted
-a pinch of salt
-2 medium eggs
-200ml/ 7fl oz of milk mixed with 75ml/ 3fl oz water
-50g/ 2oz of butter
To serve you can use any topping like caster sugar and lemon juice, biscoff spread, Nutella spread, jam, anything that your fathers heart desires!
Method;
First things first, start off by weighing out your flour and sifting it into a large mixing bowl, with a sieve above the bowl to allow air into it. Now make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it. Then begin whisking the eggs – any sort of whisk or even a fork will do – incorporating any bits of flour from around the edge of the bowl as you do so. Gradually add in your milk and water in small quantities while still mixing, any lumps will eventually disappear as you whisk.
When all the liquid has been added, use a butter knife or a spatula to scrape any bits of flour from around the edge into the centre, then whisk once more until the batter is smooth, with the consistency of thin cream. Weigh out your butter and melt it in a pan over a low/ medium heat. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the melted butter into your pancake batter and whisk it in, then pour the rest into your pan and use a pastry brush to spread it over the pan.
Heat your pan on a high heat until it is super warm, then turn it down to a medium heat. Spoon our a test pancake into your pan as practice makes perfect! I find two tablespoons is about right for an 18cm/7in pan. It’s also helpful if you spoon the batter into a ladle so it can be poured into the hot pan in one go. Once your batter hits the hot pan, swirl it around the pan so it is all even and in a perfect circle. It should take only half a minute or so to cook, you can lift the edge with a palette knife to see if it’s tinged gold as it should be.
Flip your pancake so the other side can cook- however this will only take a few seconds then you can slide it out onto your plate. Stack the pancakes as you make them between sheets of greaseproof paper on a plate fitted over simmering water, to keep them warm while you make the rest. Chose your toppings and spread or sprinkle these on top, then your pancakes are ready to be served!
