Who is friends?
Friends is an amazing 10-season tv show that came out on 22 September 1994, yet it is still a massive hit all over the world. The show is about 6 friends from new york, 3 boys and 3 girls, who are just like the rest of New York, looking for jobs, love and just having fun.
All ten seasons are amazing, making you feel like you are one of the friends and you are right there with them. There are many hilarious moments and some sad ones, but throughout the whole show, you will feel many emotions. You will fall in love, and you will hate some people or times but no matter what you will always have a smile on your face.
WARNING *light spoilers ahead*
Friend 1- Rachel
Rachel is a young runaway bride with iconic hair. She’s into everything fashion, and beauty and is always there for her friends. A young, beautiful girl who’s been brought up spoiled in a very wealthy family, grows five great friendships and becomes a responsible, mature young woman.
She starts by getting a job in her friend’s favourite cafe, Central Perk. She falls in love with one of her lifelong best friends brother, Ross, but they have a great long storyline along the way. After three seasons, she gets tired of pouring coffee so Rachel lands a job as a buyer and personal shopper at Bloomingdale’s. Soon, she lands her dream job as an executive at Ralph Lauren.
Friend 2 – Phoebe
Phoebe is a bright young girl who has a traumatic past, after her father left at a young age, her mother committed suicide and not getting on with her sister, yet she’s still a cheery, happy person.
Phoebe is a masseuse, who plays the guitar in Central Perk in her free time. She later finds out she has a half-brother whom she never met, who she grows a bond with very quickly. She even ends up carrying a baby for him and his wife, resulting in Phoebe having triplets. She is probably the most loving character, who would do anything for her friends and won’t take anything for granted.
Friend 3- Monica
Monica Geller loves food, a passion she channels into her profession as a chef. She eventually goes on to become a food critic and then head chef at two high-end restaurants — Alessandro’s and Java.
She’s a kind, caring foodie who cleans everything she can see! She’d do anything for her friends and family, even if they wouldn’t do the same for her. She has always been the second choice to Ross in her parent’s eyes, which means she finds it hard to show love and affection to them sometimes. In the end, Monica is married to Chandler and they adopt two beautiful twins.
Friend 4- Joey
Joey is the most loving, sweet friend who is extremely caring. He loves football, pizza and sandwiches. He is a tv actor starring in “days of our lives” as Doctor Drake Ramoray on the show. All storylines shown on Friends were fictional and did not represent what was really going on in the soap opera itself. He was also the lead role in “Mac and Cheese” for a short period of time. Joey also did some stage work, which appeared (although sometimes briefly) in the series. He played Sigmund Freud in the off-broadway musical Freud!, had the lead role in a play called Boxing Day, and had a role in a production of Macbeth.
Joey comes from an Italian-American family of eight children, of which he is the only male. He is from, and presumably born in, Queens. He is the most kind-hearted out of all of his friends.
Friend 5- Chandler
Chandler is sarcastic, funny and an awkward person. He’s experienced a lack of love growing up so he struggles to show it back, except when it comes to the love of his life Monica. After his mum becomes famous, and his dad a gay dancer, he has many things to make jokes on and sarcastic comments.
Usually, now I would give a job description, but it is an ongoing joke throughout the show that no one knows his job. Throughout most of the series, Chandler is an executive specialising in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, occupying high-grade positions such as Processing Manager and head of the office. Though he has a high pay, he continually complains about his dislike of his job, even deciding to quit in season 9, discovering employment as a Junior Copywriter in an advertising agency, a job he loves.
Friend 6- Ross
Ross Geller is a man who has had many marriages, which again is an ongoing joke throughout all ten seasons of friends. He has two children, Ben who he had with Carol, his first wife who left him for another woman, Ben was born early on in the show. And another baby girl was born later on in the show, but I won’t give away too many spoilers as to who is the mum.
Ross is a palaeontologist working at the Museum of Natural History, and later a tenured professor of palaeontology at New York University. Ross is a sweet-natured man of good humour, although he is often clumsy and socially awkward.
Ross and Rachel have a very interesting history together, with Ross loving Rachel all the way through high school and Rachel finding out later on, making her realise her own feelings, but at the wrong time, until they finally end up together, for a while, but I won’t spoil what happens after.
Friends overall
Overall, I love friends and I have since the very first time I watched the show, it is my comfort show. I would sell my soul to be able to watch friends for the first time again, so I recommend watching friends, and if it’s your first time make sure you appreciate every single minute. I love friends, and I hope you listen to my advice and watch it.
