what is frittata?
Frittata is an egg-based Italian dish similar to an omelette or a no crust quiche (quiche is baked in pie dish or tart pan, while a frittata is cooked in a skillet) or scrambled eggs, enriched with additional ingredients such as meats, cheeses, or vegetables. The word frittata is Italian and roughly translates to “fried”.

Air fryer frittata- ingredients.
- 6 rashers streaky smoked bacon
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 4 medium eggs
- 1 small slice of white bread, torn into small pieces, or 40g fresh white breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley or chives, plus extra to serve
- ½ tsp chilli flakes- these are optional for extra flavour
- 40g mature cheddar we would recommend it grated
Air fryer frittata- step 1
Heat the air-fryer to 200C degrees. Arrange all the bacon in a small non-stick baking tin (or you can use two individual tins with oil) and cook for 5 to 7 mins until golden but not too crisp. Remove the bacon to a plate lined with kitchen paper to drain, then drizzle the olive oil into the tin (or divide between the two tins). If you want any extra ingredients or spices, this is you chance to get all of them prepared, you can leave them on a plate at the side.

Meanwhile, beat all of the eggs together in a bowl and stir in the breadcrumbs, parsley, chilli flakes (if using), most of the cheese and some seasoning. I would also recommend adding in salt and pepper for that little bit of extra taste, if you are going to add these, now would be the time to do it!

See, isn’t this all so easy so far! I told you it required minimal effort and will come out tasting amazing at the end, all you need to do is follow these last few steps and instructions! Just trust me!
Once you have prepared your egg mixture, you need to reduce the air-fryer temperature to 170C degrees from 200 degrees. Pour the egg mixture into the tin or tins and cook for 8-12 mins until the meal is golden and completely set.

Roughly chop up the bacon into bits, then sprinkle this over the cooked frittata along with the reserved cheese. Return to the air fryer for 1 to 2 mins until the cheese has melted. Sprinkle over some parsley for garnish to finish and that little bit of extra flavour and your dish is ready to be served and enjoyed. Cut it into servings that feed everyone and then it is ready to be ate! Perfect for a dinner party, family dinner and more.
