I know you’re probably thinking about how a lot of Colleen Hoover’s books are the same. Girl meets boy, they fall in love but then there’s a twist, yet they always end up together. Well, who knows if this one will be the same but I can assure you that this one has an extremely powerful message that makes this book all extra special.

let me tell you how I was introduced to this amazing book. I had just finished another one of Colleen Hoover’s books, ‘Verity’, if you want to read my review on that amazing book, click here. After reading that I was left wondering what I would read next. My friend had just finished reading November 9 and straight away wanted me to read it.

She started to tell me it was her favourite book ever and that I had to read it! So of course, I just had to give it a try! I bought the book straight away, if you want to purchase this book as well, because why wouldn’t you, click here!

I started it when I got home, and I’m not going to lie, I felt like it had a bit of a slow start. It intrigued me with the first line, as I wondered who she was talking to but only a line or two after I figured out it was her dad. I then felt like this conversation was a bit long, and I was wanting it to hurry up and get to the juicy bit.

Although, as soon as she went to the toilet and we found out about her greatest insecurity, her scars from the accident, I felt more intrigued word by word. And then as soon as we were introduced to Ben a few pages later, the whole story started to pick up and I loved every page! Every word on the page was well written and Hoover used some great imagery and sentence structure to get the novel to the best it could be!

I feel like the storyline of Fallon’s accident added to the storyline. Now I know that sounds silly, cause it is one of the main topics in the book, but it really wouldn’t be the same without her lack of confidence, which starts to grow when she meets Ben, and how much she falls in love with herself at the same time as falling in love with him, and not to mention the epic, unexpected plot twist that goes along with the scars.

Bens manuscript

When I read this section of the novel, my jaw was on the floor the entire time. There were so many plot twists in this part, that made me fall in love with this book even more. Ben’s backstory also really added to the plot of the story, making it an unforgettable love story. However, at a certain point in Ben’s manuscript, which I won’t state because it is a huge spoiler, I hated him. At this point, I felt so many emotions, pain, anger, and fury, all of it just from one heart-breaking line of the truth.

Ben’s manuscript added a big part to November 9, making us see his back story without having to go back in time. It was a really smart thing for Colleen Hoover to add in, and gave us all a few jaw-hitting-the-floor moments! I swear my heart dropped after hearing the first line that Fallon read in the kitchen that night!

Colleen Hoover

I mentioned at the beginning, that even though I expected November 9 to be a typical love story, it is defiantly not! I’ve read many of the great author Colleen Hoover’s novels and not one of them has been basic, and they all have their personal touch to the storyline, to cause song great twists and tears.

I have read many of CCoHos’books, including, November 9, It ends with us, ugly love, confess and verity and I am hoping I will read many more in the future! Hoover has great skill in writing, as I’ve mentioned earlier, she has a great sense of imagery and sentence structure. There were honestly a few lines on November 9 that gave me goosebumps right up my arm, all her books have had the same effect as well.

Another smart technique CoHo uses is she bases her covers on events that happen in the story. However, I have been struggling to find out what the new cover for November 9 relates to, the old cover links the theme of Autumn through the colour scheme and the pages on the number relating to the manuscript! She is a very talented author who deserves a lot more attention than she gets!

November 9 conclusion

In conclusion, I loved this book. It would probably come second place in my collection, after my all-time favourite variety of course! I would rate November 9 a 9/10, and I hope I have convinced you to read! it
